We’re going to get back in the fly tying video game starting in January. It’s been several years since we put out a vid, but the continuing interest in those we posted a few years ago (and continued customers in the door because of them!) have prompted us to get started doing them again. They will appear under the channel name Walter Wiese Fly Fishing. Check out the 30-odd videos already posted there.
In the meantime, there’s a few other website nuisances we need to take care of first. To tide visitors over, here are a couple videos others have done on our flies in the past few years.
GFA Hopper (Variation) by tightlinevideo
There are several versions of the GFA on Youtube, including one I did, but of the recent variants, this one is the best. Frankly, it’s kind of flattering that Tim posted a video of my fly, since he’s one of the top dogs on Youtube for tying vids these days. The fact that he did is one of the big reasons I’ll be doing vids again soon. The main difference between this fly and my original version is the addition of an underbody beneath the foam.
Clacka Caddis by East Rosebud Fly & Tackle
There are several versions of my Clacka Caddis online as well. This one is a variation on a variation. This one is a take-off of Craig Mathews’ copy designed for the Mother’s Day caddis hatch, which he calls a hackled Iris Caddis. While this pattern is often referred to as a variation on an Iris Caddis, in reality I came up with it by combining elements of the Iris Caddis with the classic Coachman Trude attractor dry.
